FAQ
- What is PassMe?
PassMe is a hardware device that allows programs on a GBA flash card to be run on the Nintendo DS in DS mode. Without this device, only GBA programs can be run from the GBA flash card.
- What is WifiMe?
WifiMe is a windows program and device driver that allows programs on a GBA flash card to be run on the Nintendo DS in DS mode. It works by sending a signed (official) program to the DS using “DS Download Play”. The header of this program has been modified to divert to the flash card. WifiMe requires a supported Wifi Card.
- What is FlashMe?
FlashMe is a replacement firmware for the Nintendo DS. Like the PassMe, this allows programs on a GBA flash card to be run on the DS in DS mode. It also allows you to download unsigned programs to the Nintendo DS using “DS Download Play”. Installing FlashMe requires you to already have either PassMe or WifiMe, and a GBA flash card.
- What is Wireless Multiboot?
Wireless Multiboot allows you to send unsigned programs to the Nintendo DS using “DS Download Play”. This does not require a GBA flash card. You need to install FlashMe first to remove the signature checking of downloaded programs. WifiMe is then used to send the program to the DS.
- How do I install DSLinux?
Write the dslinux.ds.gba file to a GBA flash card. Make sure that it is the only file on the card, and disable any game selection menus.
- Can I run DSLinux without a GBA flash card.
Yes, you can send DSLinux to your DS using Wireless Multiboot without a GBA flash card. However, as this needs FlashMe to be installed on your DS, you will need to borrow a GBA flash card to install FlashMe.
- Will I still be able to use my DS for running DS and GBA games?
Yes.
- What can I use DSLinux for?
DSLinux is at an early stage of development and does not yet have a GUI, audio output, audio input or wifi. There are 2 text adventures that can be played using the touchscreen keyboard. Text files can be created, edited or viewed using vi, but changes will be lost when the DS is turned off.
