Web Browser

I didn’t think we’d ever get a web browser running in DSLinux, but I was proved wrong when phestar compiled retawq for DSLinux.

DSLinux has beaten Nintendo/Opera by releasing the first web browser for the DS.

  18. FaZyCrUcK Says:

    I want it! Well Done!

  19. Kenny Says:

look at the forums, it is there.
how to use it (for gbamp/sc/m3)
    put retawq in /usr/bin
    type retawq in dslinux
    commands:
    crtl+g=goto url
    crtl+Q=quit

  20. ozroc Says:

Well, that’s such a great job and a fantastic new!

Now, it should be great adding a simple assistant for iwlist/iwconfig/dhcp… Without stuff like the magic tab autocompletition writing it all everytime you want to connect is quite horrible.
I have something written as a bash script that uses dialog menus at http://oswax.sourceforge.net

Of course, for implementing it in dslinux it should be simplified, but as an idea for doing it easy, I think this information can be usefull.

Contact me if I can help in anything. I’ll do my.

Also an rss reader such as snownews could be great.

Excuse my poor English, but hope you understood.

May the source be with you.

I have been having trouble getting onto my AP with dslinux/wifi. Neither static nor dynamic seem to work. But I am not getting any errors which would help me track down the problem.

iwconfig nds channel 11 essid linksysz key xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    ifconfig nds 192.168.1.2 up
    route add default gw 192.168.1.1

    Then when I try

    ping 192.168.1.1

    I get:
    No response from 192.168.1.1

When I just type “ifconfig”, I see that the RX bytes and TX bytes are all greater than 0. (e.g. TX 406 bytes, RX 20.5 KiB).

Any idea on how to diagnose this?
Also, a couple of times, DSLinux has just restarted, kicked me back to the login prompt. For example, after another wifi connection failure, I did:

    # cat /sram/wifi.sh
    cat: /sram: Unknown error 2
    #
    Welcome to
    DSlinux

    Any pointers would be appreciated!

  25. NOA_Shadow Says:

Also, can anybody tell me the login and password. I used to have it, but I lost it. Do I need it to run this internet browser?

  26. Nismo Says:

wow there, so you mean, you can browse the web without having to telnet?! You mean just by using the wifi like the nintendo/opera software would do it?!!! If so, OMG! lol

  27. NOA_Shadow Says:

I’ve gotten DSLinux to run retawq, and it shows that screen at the top of this page, but where do i go from there? How do I enter URLs?

  28. Nismo Says:

Shadow: You can use the help in the DS Linux wiki page. I think help for retawq is up already.

  45. sparky Says:

A great start, but too bad this is text only. Some people are mentioning a port of Firefox (Minimo) but I think Konqueror may be a more realistic target. Konqueror Embedded http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konqueror_Embedded does not require X windows of any sort, compiles into a static binary, and can support Flash version 4.

Imaging a graphical browser on the DS with Flash. Beating Nintendo to that would really be cool!

  46. j2kalways Says:

Looks cool but i cant get it to work on my ds can someone please help me!!!!

  47. pepsiman Says:

    Please ask on the forum.

It Doesnt work on the Max Media Dock/Browser with Dantels cards.

And could you make a Max Media Verison of this browser and make it a standalone .NDS File?

  54. sawmaster Says:

    It’s DATEL. Not DANTELS!

  55. cory Says:
